ACETYLENE
AIRGAZ manufactures pure acetylene for various applications. The most important is related to the temperature reached by its flame in the presence of oxygen in the oxyacetylene torch: acetylene can be used to weld metals, heat them, form them, or perform various treatments. It can also be used to cut steel. Another application is POTEYING: when introduced into a high-temperature flame (for example, an oxy-fuel flame), acetylene is cracked and decomposes into native carbon. This carbon is deposited on the nearest cold walls, for example, the molds into which molten glass will be introduced to make bottles.
